Can Athearn locos with 6-wheel trucks work on Bachman E-Z track, in particular the expander pack with the 18" radius and turnouts?

Ouch. You can make them do it, but you can't make them like it.

6-axle engines are built for 22" or broader curves - an SD40-2 might travel around an 18" curve, but the cars behind will probably derail from the coupler overhang on the engine.

As the man says in _The Hunt for Red October_: "Possible...but not recommended." . If you haven't bought the engine yet, I'd stick to shorter engines with 4-wheel trucks.
