These are questions that mostly pertain to Lionel O-27 equipment, I think....
1)The relay in the loco (2035), can it be quieted down or do they buzz like that?
2)I am using a 1033 Transformer, what voltage should I be getting from the posts & which posts (4 of them)are what?
3)How does the whistling tender work? Is the current different? I also can't seem to get it to work unless I close the relay manually WITHOUT tripping the whistle switch on the transformer. If I trip the switch it doesn't have enough power to run the whistle.
4)Converting the smoker over to liquid...how to do (doesn't work and it was full of the white residue from the pill smoke)? When I was younger I remember seeing a smoking train on a bottle of 3-in-1 oil, can this be used as a smoking agent?
5)How do you clean the old smoke residue off the loco and all the cars?
6) Where to find 0-27 buildings? The few places that I have seen O buildings, they carry so few.

I can help with #6. O and O27 are really the same scale. The 27 just refers to the diamater of a compleat circle of track. There were also sets made with O72 track. So O scale buildings will be perfect . Using 3 in 1 oil. Not recomended, never had any experiance with smoke, but I think this will mess up the smoke unit. ....Mike

regular vaseline will work on removingthe smokeresidue. As far as converting to liquid from pills and substitutes for pill if you scanall of the posts for the last year you find several discussions on smoke pills ,liquid and alternatives that work.
Re your whistle problem you may need to service the tender as there is a wick that needs to be oiled, also your wire connections may b e loose, old frayed wire insulation, or try cleaning the roller pickup on the car.

Classy: I looked up the 1033 transformer and found this info: There are 4 posts, the first one on the left is "U" then as you go to the right they are AWith B as your common or groujd post the fixed voltage post is C= 11volts and U is variable 0-11 v; With C as common or ground A= 16 volts, and B =11 volts there is no variable, with "U" as common or ground there is no fixed and A is 5-16 varalbe and B is 0 to 11 v varaible. I hope this helps.

Classy: Here is some more on the whistle problem: The train whistle is located in the tender and can be reached by taking off the body of the tender. THe whistle consists of a relay, a whistle chamber , and the whistle motor. THe motor is similar to other Linel motors and is cleaned the same way,although th bruish plate must be removed to reach the commutator. THe oil wick which lubricates the armature shaft of this motor is contained in a long housing on top of the brush plate. To lubricate, take out the wick,dip it in light machine oil , squeeze out the excess oil gently and replace the wick.

Classy: I need to correct the description of the posts: My typing is poor. THe first post on the 1033 transformer ( from the left) is "U" then as you go to the right they are posts A,B,and C.

Let me try this transformer thing again: You see how the posts are? U and then A,B,c.
WIth A as common/ground the fixed voltage for post B is 5v. For post C ilt is 16v. U is variable 5 to 16v. With B as common/ground C is fixed 11v and U is variable 0 to 11v. With C as common /ground A is 16v fixed and B is is 11v fixed and ther is no variable voltage.
WIth U as common/ground there is no fixed voltage and A is variable 5 to 16v. and B is variable 0 to 11v. THERE, I FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT!!!!!!!! LOL
