Some of you maybe haven't heard about a neat Train experience here in West Virginia. There is a State Park here that is a "Shay" Locomotive park. I think they have three to five of these Locomotives there, and a couple of them take you for a ride up a couple mile (very steep) grade to a mountain top and back down. It's been several years since I was there (about 150 miles from my home) but I plan to return this spring. It is such a neat experience. I think top speed on these Locomotives is 12 MPH, but with the extremely low gear driven wheels, and the three cylinders, at that speed they sound like another Locomotive going 60 MPH. ---- Check out this website www.cassrailroad.com It tells all about the park.

Hey Lolyd! I grew up not far from Cass RR myself. I have pictures of me somewhere on one of the Shays (I believe they have 6 of them) with my grandpa. I am planning an N scale layout of Cass for the distant future. I will be making a trip there later this fall to do some research of the buildings and surrounding towns.
