F units were used in both types of service. Some railroads even had two different schemes to differentiat between the two. Some examples include the Santa Fe. They had the Red, Silver, Yellow, and Black war bonnet shceme for Passenger, and the Blue and Yellow for Freight. Southern Pacific used Orange, Red, and Black in the "Daylight" scheme for its Passenger Fs and Black, with silver and orange trim for its Freight units in the "Black Widow" scheme. Other Roads bought Dual Purpose F units so they can be made avaialble for Any assignment.
Welcome to the hobby of model rialroading.

Hi there; I have six CN F-7's,(including B-units). They pull freight and passenger, but I don't know if there were any specific color schemes for one or the other with CN. I have two with the 1950's green and gold scheme, three with the 1960's green and yellow, and one 1970's zebra stripe, (which looks out of place).
