I need help dealing with my dad's estate. My dad has many samhongsa brass locomotives. I always understood that some of them were limited edition pieces. How do I find out if they are or not and where do I look for a production number such as 25/150? How do I know if it is what I understand is called a crown? Thanks for any help.

I went to the Caboose Hobbies website to get more information. It appears that they charge for any value information that they have. They will only give me value information if I consign with them. They also want to have the stock onsite to give it a thorough examination (fair). Duties or import charges could be applied if I were to ship to them. Is there any other way to get the information I need ? Can any one tell me how to find out more?

Eustace - try a Google search with the term "samhongsa brass locomotive" or "samhongsa" or "brass locomotive". I came up with a variety of sites with info. It appeared there were other retailers with info. There were even some with prices. Might be a phone number for some, I didn't do a lot of exploring.
Good luck with valuing your father's things. I know when my father died his stuff - such as boy scout memorabilia back to 1923 and misc WWII items - became at once priceless and worthless.

I still need help with my dad's brass locomotives. I've done lots of internet research but so far have not found any answers as to what a samhongsa crown is vs any samhongsa locomotive. I live 6 hours from the nearest hobby shop and there are no other model railroaders in the community that I live in. . Can anybody else offer help or information?

I don't own any brass, but there is a book called "The Brown Book" I think that purports to give the value of brass locomotives. I've seen it in local hobby shops. It is probably available from Amazon.
