I just purchased my first Proto 2000 loco, an SP grey PA-1. It's beautiful, but the front power truck is making some kind of rapidly intermittent noise, like a squeaky chafing noise, rather than a gear tooth noise. My two Proto 1K's don't do any thing like this at all, even w/o lube. Anybody recognize this? Thanks in advance.

Just thought I'd mention that I called Life-Like today, and their response was to send me a new chassis, gratis! That's a real service oriented company! It's refreshing in a money-hungry world, to see that kind of support and dedication to product and customer. Kudos, Life-Like!

I have a Proto 2k GP30. I added a Digitrax decoder and it squeals when going at a fast speed. It does not do it at a slow crawl. It sounds as though the motor is dry and needs lubricant. Does anybody know what this is? I did not run the train before I added the decoder. I have another GP30 which is fine.

The experience of quite a few members of the modular club I belong to in regard to Lifelike p2k models is that they are well built and nicely detailed, but are often overlubed or under lubed. It seems some have oil dripping out of the trucks and chasis, while others are completely dry.
