You could be having any number of problems. Does it pop off on a curve in the hill or a straight section?? Do other locomotives make the hill ok? Is the track slightly twisted or out of alignment? I think there are lots of folks here that have had similar things happen, but maybe more info is needed before we can get to the cause of the problem. Good luck, Happy Modeling, and hope to hear from you again. John P.S. Please remember that some of us have kids who view this site with us, so G rated language is most appropriate.

My Other small weener loco of my can run on the table without derailing. It can go up the hill and down with no problem. My New Dash8 loco with its 12 wheels always derails on all parts of the hill, I am Really pissed about it because it took forever for the loco to arrive after i ordered it! Anyways i need to know if there is a Cross thing with the turns on it for side by side tracks. So my 2 side by side tracks can cross eatch other. Right now im out of town but when i get home i can get a Picture of my whole table and post it in the forum. Actually can i post any pics here? if so how? Thanks.

John It may be that the turn radius of your track is too tight for the larger engine. Even if you lower the track and make a crossing, the turn radius may still be too tight. If you want to keep running the new engine, you may need to reengineer your layout with wider turns. Don't know about posting pics here, never done it before. Good luck and Happy Modeling!! John

I Have 2 tracks on the outside that are 18" Radius and it has no trouble with the turns, Its only the hill part. In the middle i have a smaller ovoal track that is 15" radius and the loco can go around around and around and never derail on that part of the track. I Think all i need to do is Dump the Piers and make it all ground. with a Cross. Any other suggestions?

Well I guess it all depends on how hooked on the over and under crossing you have. If you really like the hill, then some experimenting may be in order. It may be possible that the track tilts ever so slightly and that the other engine is not sensitive enough to derail in this spot. Does the new engine derail in the exact same spot every time?? If so, try and figure out which wheels come off first. A small shim to raise that side of the track may be all that is needed to make it run right. Good luck and Happy Modeling!! John
