There was a great series on PBS called "Tracks Ahead". I think it was presented in several installments
over the years. I believe they made a total of 4 individual series, with a 5th coming in 2005.
I never had a chance to tape the series..but does anyone know of a vendor for purchasing the first 4 series?
I have never been into model railroading, but would like to in a couple of years when I retire. I thought that "Tracks Ahead" was superb. For a newcomer to model railroad building, it really gives one a chance to see how to construct various layouts and structures. Can anyone suggest another video series which would also be of interest to a model railroad novice? Thanks.

The complete Tracks Ahead series is available on VHS from Pentrex. Each tape is 4 episodes and there are two tapes per volume. In the 2001 Pentrex catalog that I have handy at the moment there are 8 volumes. I understand that these are now out on DVD, but I can not confirm this at this time.

Also if you are interested in an Introductory video tape series on Model Railroading I own one produced by Green Frog Productions. It covers all the stages of building a model railroad from design to construction to operation. Since I am wishing to convert my modest VHS collection of Train videos over to DVD I would be willing to sell my 10 tape set in either trade for the DVD version or for the cost of the DVD version. My VHS version has been viewed only about 5 times and everything is in very nice like new condition.

Email me at Challenger@hrp.every1.net if anyone wishes to follow this matter further.
