Any advice on riding the Newark Subway during daylight hours? When I was last at Newark Penn Station several years ago I was kind of leery of the Subway so I didn't check it out...

I've ridden the Newark City Subway only a few times, when I lived in NJ. I rode it just for the ride and a couple of times to conferences at NJ Institute of Technology. These were all daylight trips. It seemed all right to me.

Worked in Newark a few months in 1995. Rode the subway on a Saturday, a few wierd looking people, but then this is next to New York. Don't see a problem with daytime. Don't know enough to say how far away it is safe to wander. I did not. Just rode out, took some pictures, rode back. Stopped off at least once to take a few pictures.

I rode it back in the PCC Days first thing in the morning and had the car to myself. It was a great ride. http://www.trainweb.org/chrisPosts: 711 | From: Santa Ana | Registered: May 2003

The NCS is exceptionally safe. The PCC days were the time to ride it; things have slowed down a bit since the inception of the Kinki-Sharyo LRVs.
