It’s currently blanketing both overlapping tri-state areas and then some. The haze makes the sky look orange and the sun look red. Was not able to smell the smoke until Wednesday, but afterwards was not able to un-smell it. The smoke was reported anecdotally to have permeated the subterranean parts of the NYC subway; the city’s air quality is at an all-time low.

So this is what I'm leaving for today?

First to South Kent CT and SKS's Centenary (receptions held outdoors; best have checkbooks in hand 'lums), then to my Sister in Greenwich (two nights each).

Accu Weather (they're from your backyard Mr. Helfner; State College PA) thinks it will be "all clear" by Saturday (2nd day @ SKS); we shall see.

Fortunately I have no respiratory issues; can't say same for my Sister. However, I will dig out from my COVID archives, an N-95 mask to take along on the six night trip.

irony is i live in St Albans, Vermont (northern nest of the Vermonter) 12 miles from the border with Quebec and there has been little smoke here. Mostly just cloudy skies and some of that have been rain clouds. ive heard most of the smoke is being blown over NY state. Without all the news coverage though from NYC DC etc i wouldnt think much at all is happening.
