I believe two items of significance have occurred this week that may awake both factions in the matter of Judge Garland's confirmation to SCOTUS.
One is the publicized meeting between Judge Garland and Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL), a Moderate who stands for re-election this November (and could well loose). This would certainly suggest that the Senate is starting to realize that they as a body are acting against their best interests (lest we not forget Priority One; get re-elected) in delaying the confirmation process.
Secondly, the realization that "we haven't got a Supreme Court" is coming home with the 4-4 decision in Friedrichs v. Cal Teacher's Association. A ruling in favor of the Plaintiff would have been a blow to organized labor - something dear to the hearts of conservatives. Instead the matter is remanded to the "Libby Ninth" and thus the 9th CCA's decision stands.
No faction in Wash will benefit from SCOTUS anarchy (after all, why did the Fathers want nine of 'em?). Somehow I think there will be movement on this confirmation.
addendum: After submitting this post, I find that The Times editorial board largely agrees with my thoughts; Gray Lady of course expresses her thoughts more eloquently than do I with mine:
The nation’s founders devised a government of checks and balances, not of obstruction and paralysis. Every day that Senate Republicans refuse to give Judge Garland the consideration he is due, they are embarrassing themselves and ignoring the voices of the people.

First Prediction: If Hillary wins, the Lame Duck post-election Senate will confirm Judge Garland to the SCOTUS.
Reason: "You know what you are getting"; If Hillary takes four Senate seats on her coattails that are needed for a tie (the VP will break it), you can be sure her appointment will make Thurgood Marshall's jurisprudence look like that of Scalia.
Second prediction: If Hillary wins, Justice Ginsburg will step down within "the hundred days", but should Trump, there will be another vacant chair at the Bench adorned in Black.
