Hi,
I am new to the forum - Hello!

I am interested in railways, especially disused and derelict lines. As I am also a keen cyclist I have combined the 2 to produce a basic website about the disused lines around where I live, which you can ride or walk.
I hope you enjoy my site.

Many Thanks
JON

Hello, Jon...
Thanks, for joining the forum. I have been a member for a few years now. Seems as though a lot of people have stopped writing and visiting this site, like they did before. I think your interests are a lot of fun. I do, however, find it increasingly sad to dwell on all the rail lines that have gone into history. Here, in the States, abandoned rail right-of-ways are being acquired by the "Rails To Trails" organization. I'd much rather see viable railroads and less abandoned entities. I will stop by from time to time and visit your web site. My ancestors are from England, on my mother's side. Their last name is, Dyer. Best wishes on your endeavors.
...Richard

Hi Richard -
Thanks for your reply. Glad you like the site, I must admit i also feel the same way as you. Its a shame that the lines cant be used again, especially to take traffic of our very busy roads. But at least with the lines being converted to patways, they dont get destroyed, built over and lost, and people can then use them for recreation.
I am over in the states later this year, I have friends in Santa Barbara, Cali. SB has a great station and regular trains. I always take time to go down there when I am visiting.
Thanks
JON

Hi,
We have recently updated the website with some new photos taken on the disused railway line, near Tiviot dale Station, Stockport, England.
Please take a look.
Thanks
JON
