I am curently enrolled in College, and I am actively pursuing a job as a rail road train engineer. I was wondering if there were any good sources such as books or websites, or even info from other train enginners that would help me out with my goal. This would be a great help Thanks

The Grouch...

Grouch,
Lil Brother is correct, gaining experience with any RR will help you.
You may also want to look into earning an Associates Degree in Railroad Operations. Visit the UPRR website & click "employment" and "Associates Degree" for a list of Junior Colleges that offer this program across the United States. You may want to pay special attention to Sacramento City College which offers this Degree field designed to provide education and training for your choosen field.
Good luck !

It seems like you have some pretty sound advice. Finish college. You must start in an entry level position such as conductor/brakeman. From the day you are hired, start submitting bids for any advertised locomotive engineer classes. Submit bids for all of them. The worst that can happen is be turned down. You won't know if you don't try. Try also to get into a company official position and that way, you can have something to fall back on if you get furloughed. Go to www.bnsf.com and click where it says "employment". This page should give you more information as to what your options are. Good luck.
