I recently bought an N-scale caboose that is labeled as Petaluma and Santa Rosa Railroad. I have not heard of this railroad, and when I look it up in any books I own, I cannot find it.
Was this a real railroad at one time? If so, it must have been quite a while ago. I would like to find out about this railroad.

This was a shortline in northern California, and ran between its namesake towns and interchanged (I think) with the Northwestern Pacific or Southern Pacific.

Originally an independent interurban (electric) line serving the countryside between its namesake termini, but via a route further west than NWP, which also connected those two points and eventually gobled it up. Later operated as just another NWP branch using S.P. power and caboose otherwise used on other local jobs in vicinity, such as when I braked on the lines in mid 1960s. Although articles must have been done on it various journals, coverage was also included in Stindt's NWPRR book[s].
