There is a Reno (Sparks) fun train that runs during February & March. It departs from Emeryville (about 5 miles north of the Oakland - Jack London station). It departs on Friday afternoons & returns on Sunday evenings. You can book full room & show packages. It is a charter train that uses Amtrak resources. It is operated by Key Holidays Travel (1-800-783-0783).
If your schedule does not allow for weekend travel or you don't want to ride on a "party" train, another option is taking Amtraks California Zephyr which runs seven days a week between Emeryville & Chicago. It departs Emeryville in the mornings and is scheduled to return in the evenings, however, expect delays on the return trip since it's coming from Chicago. This train also allows you to see much more of the snowfall in the Sierras during daylight hours.
Either way, have a good trip!
