Help! The Salvation Army Kids Camp in my area has two cabooses that need some TLC! They plan to ask for restoration help locally in the Portland, Oregon area, but if no one steps up to the plate, they are going to scrap them!

If you or someone you know could help, please let me know.

Thanks!

Have you tried contacting any local museums in your area?

Where are these cabs? I live in Olympia and I would like to help if possible. We don't need any more cabs scraped. if they plan to scrap them have them get in touch with the museum in Battle Ground, WA on the ols lewis and Clark, they may take them.

Also what road are they/

Thanks

Sorry to take so long to respond. I am a Deputy Sheriff in Clackamas County and one of our Sergeants was shot in the face last week. I have been tied up with that issue.

It is apparently one caboose. I will get a digital photo tomorrow and more info, numbers, make, road, etc.

Good grief! Is the deputy going to pull through. I hope so. My prayers are with him! Let us know how he is doing.

There are three cabooses total. Two are going to be scrapped or hopefully find a new home. The third will be refurbished.

I would like to post the pictures of the cabooses, but don't know how to do that on this site. I don't have my own web page, so I can't post them there.

Any ideas?

Here's a caboose needing restoration!!!

Actually, this caboose is in daily service on the La Mirada local. Heck, I'd volunteer to paint this thing if they'd let me!

Hey Rail,

Sorry I had forgotten about the cabs and just saw the subject again tonight. If you have a digital cam you could post the pics to the site. If not you will probally have to scan them.

I would like to know where there cabs are so as to get pictures of them before there demise. I don't remember if you told me in the first post where they were. If not please let me know.

Again you might try getting in touch with the group in Battle Ground at the Lewis and Clarke.

Please let me know by email when you can what is going on with the cabs and when the two will be scraped and where if you know.

My email address is shanandrob@yahoo.com

Thanks,

Shannon

Too soon, too bad . . . I have the space and actually got my wife to agree that I could get one, set it up and use it for my model layouts. Unfortunately, it won't be for another few years that I can afford to transport and set one up......
