I will be railfanning Cajon this summer, which I've done before, but woul like to drive from there to Bakersfield. Is the road from Cajon to the Palmdale area decent or is it real winding? Are there any suggestions for how to view the loops and top spots at Tehachipi?

Ca. 138 from Cajon to Palmdale is mostly on the valley floor and has long straight sections. It is a little windy near Cajon but not by much.
