I am absolutely new to this.

I chair the Electric Utility functions on our city council. We recently purchased some rebuilt EMD 20 cylinder engines which have been converted to supply AC electric power as back-up and peak shaving duty for our community's publically owned power utility.

We have a couple questions:

1. How does one identify these 20 cylinder locomotives as the go by on the track? Or, do they nowadays?

2. Who is the engine producer on G.E.s 16 cylinder locomotives? We are hearing that they are also available as conversions for the above usage.
