I'm looking for accounts of the run of the M-497 jet-propelled RDC3 car on the New York Central in 1966. Also photographs that haven't been in every magazine known to man.

If I remember right, TRAINS covered that story some years back. Look in 1980's issues. It might have been some other railroad magazine, but I'm pretty sure it was TRAINS and it was a while ago. Sorry I can't remember the year or month of issue.

There is an article in the Feb. 1989 issue of TRAINS magazine about the NYC M-497 tests on July 23-24, 1966. "The car operated over a 300 foot section in 1.112 seconds, resulting in a speed of 183.7 miles per hour."
