Does anyone know whether Amtrak has a program for U.S. citizens similar to their rail pass program for foreign nationals? From looking at Amtrak information it appears that, if one isn't from overseas, Amtrak makes no discounted fares available. Can anyone enlighten me?

They do have passes available for US citizens, but there are probably restrictions. Call the toll free number 1-800-872-7245

Amtrak & VIA Rail have a North American rail pass, requiring at least one segment on each system. It is relatively expensive & rather hard to book, especially when you want sleepers. Amtrak does have All-Aboard fares which cover 1, 2 or more regions. They can be a real bargain, especially if you are traveling a long distance & making several stops. They include up to 3 stopovers & 3 transfers between stopovers. The time frame runs from 30 to 45 days. There is a limit to how many times you can travel on the same route & they are not good on Acela service or the Auto Train. Yours Reggie
