My website, the Monterey Peninsula Toy Box has a new section that may be of interest to folks on this board, particularly those in California. It is called the Del Monte Club Car named after the Del Monte Express which served Monterey from 1880 until 1970.
The Club Car contains information on proposals to restore service to Monterey and expanded service in other areas of Monterey County, including the revival of the Coast Daylight. Enjoy.

Mr. Toy, Great sites (both the toy box & the club car). A couple of comments (Don't you know me): Amtrak is limited to 79 mph is most areas (and often less), but there are some 90 mph segments in the west. Part of the Surfliner line in Orange and San Diego Counties runs at 90 mph, including the part between San Onofre (south of San Clemente) and Oceanside adjacent to Interstate 5. Also, until recently, some of the Santa Fe route used by the Southwest Chief (in San Bernardino County) was posted at 90mph, but I don't know if that is still true. My understanding is that an additional safety device called ATS (Automatic Train Stop) is required for passenger trains to operate above 79 mph. I think ATS includes both some devices in the engines and also some "connection" to the lineside signals that allows it to operate. Someone else out there should know more about it. Finally, one of the links in the photography section of the website did not work. I tried to link to Artists by the Sea (Redondo Beach pier) but it would not connect. Hopefully that is a good link...I'll try again. Again...great sites! M P
