A few months ago I found a website through Trainweb about some new bi-level passenger cars. These cars were quite luxurious and were intended to be used on a joint operation between Amtrak and a shipping company. They would run between LA and NY on a train carrying both passengers and freight.
The cars themselves were red, bi-level, and stood 18' tall, two feet taller than a Superliner. Sleepers featured wrap-around roof windows, much like a Superliner lounge car. An observation car had an open deck on the lower level, somewhat like the observation cars of the 1920s.
Does anyone know where I saw these? I have searched Trainweb for days now with no success. Or was I just dreaming?

Thank's Chris. That looks like the cars I saw before, but the site looks different. For one thing it doesn't mention the car dimensions, which I read before. I was also pretty certain it involved Amtrak in some way, as I described in my original post. Maybe someone besides Golden Eagle is also buying these cars.

Sounds great, if they are even as tall as the Superliners, they won't see NY though. Can't do the tunnels, even the dome cars are too high. Reggie

Were these the cars originally destined for the Philip Morris Marlboro Express?
