Trainsmag.com just reported that Amtrak notified CSX on January 18 that it is interesting in extending the Kentucky Cardinal from its current terminus at Louiville, Ky., south to Nashville, Tenn.
The Nashville Business Journal reported that Amtrak officially notified CSX last week. The move comes less than a month after Amtrak and CSX operated a test train over the route. The 180-mile route extension would allow Amtrak to earn revenue from a train set that otherwise would sit idle at Louisville before turning back to chicago.
The Kentucky Cardinal was extended to louisville in December. Previously, it terminated across the Ohio River in Jeffersonville, Ind.
well guys out there what is your reaction to this.

When we took a trip a couple of years ago, the conductor told us that this line would eventually end up in Miami. He said it would take several years and several route additions to achieve this. This route would be a whole lot better than the other routes to get to Florida.
