Do any of you know how Amtrak trains are used in the railroad's official timetable? I am not referring to the schedule that ordinary passengers see, I am referring to the official rules of the road.

Amtrak trains are so often late, that it seems if they were on the timetable, that the dispatchers would constantly be using train orders to keep them going. I might guess that all long-distance Amtrak trains are considered Extras as far as the dispatcher is concerned.

Thank you
