Does anyone know if the fires in MT have interrupted the schedule of the Empire Builder? The Glacier Park fire looks pretty close to the train route. I've tried to check the daily status of the Builder on the Amtrak site, but can't figure out how to do that with the new format. It seems to be set up just for reservations now.

We're taking the Builder in two weeks, and it looks as if the fires might be burning until first snowfall. Anybody know what arrangements Amtrak might make in that area when the tain can't get through? The map doesn't show many roads in the Glacier area for bus options. Thanks in advance for any info.

Here is the "train status" page from Amtrak's website: http://tickets.amtrak.com/JBookIt?function=handlers.amtrak.AmtrakTrainStatu sHandler&storefront=1003

I don't know much about the alternate connection info, but I'm sure Amtrak will have a bus if needed. If the fires get too bad, they might turn the eastbound train around and send it back to Seattle, and turn the westbound train around to Chicago. Passengers would be bussed between the two trains. I hope that you get to stay on the train though.
