I am off to Lamy tomorrow from San Jose CA. I have all my bags packed. I will be taking a duffel bag and a suitcase with the telescope handle. I have put a pair of eyeshades, airline socks, airline slippers courtesy of Singapore Airlines,a small hand towel, two mini bars of soap,my shaver with plug, music, books. What else do I need? I'm set for a relaxing night in the Amtrak coach seat or should I say buisness class?

I think I will sleep well on the train. In 24 hours I will be sitting in the lounge car climbing the Cajon Pass. Ah what better way than to sip a coffee while seeing the scenery.I hope the lounge cafe car accepts Credit cards.

I want to thank everyone at Trainweb for making this community one of my favorites on the web. I enjoy reading the many travelogs and conversing with new people. What a great way to share the love of train travel.

To Steve Grande: I'll be thinking about you as my Southwest Chief pulls into Fullerton. Is there any chance you could stand at the platform and wave to me?

I don't think the cafe car takes credit cards.
