I know I've asked before, but I keep losing the answer. I'm updating my RR guides and maps again -- which route do the E-bound and W-bound CZ's use between Winnemucca and Elko? -- please don't confuse me with RR subdivision names -- one route is the former WP route, and the other is the former SP route -- which one is used in which direction? (you CAN give me beginning and end points of each route segment if you'd like)

Thanks again, and I'll save the answer this time!!

Rich, the WP-SP paired track in Nevada is between Alazon (somewhat West of Wells) and WESO (somewhat East of Winnemucca). Eastward trains used the WP; WW the SP.

When stationed at Hill AFB during 1968, I did a "Gambler's Jaunt' (I think a roll of Quarters down the slots was the extent of it) riding the "City of LA" to Salt Lake, thence CZ to Elko and returning on the "City of SF" to Ogden.

And guess what? I did it all in Coach (and in uniform).

RRRich, how can I get my hands on your CZ route guide?

Thanks.

Thanks, Gil -- I will save this reply and put it with my RR map files.

Henry -- I haven't yet put together a detailed narrative RR guide for the CZ route, but will be one of these days. Right now, I am redoing the maps only, since the original maps I put together several years ago have gotten lost from my computer. I will let you know the progress of this route guide, and can probably send you the maps after I finish the route. I am only doing EMY-SLC at this time.
