hey any of you guys know of any greyhound bus forums? man i love riding greyhound buses. i have ridden across the country countless times. every trip i have had an interesting story to tell, from passengers assaulting drivers to meeting lots of weird people like teen welfare moms and people doing drugs.

dont get me wrong, i like amtrak too, and have had lots of good trips on it, but nothing beats a long distance greyhound bus ride! (next year i plan to travel from san diego to maine and back by bus). my advice to prospective riders: sit in the back of the bus, thats where all the crazy shit goes on.

#3 I love Bluebird buses, but Greyhound are a bit low class.

THe forum is set to automatically erase normal curse words but if the last letter is missing, the computer is not inteligent enough. Yez Boz, "bus boy" that was funny, But lets keep it clean. And I love riding local buses !!

Wow nothing like being harsh here. Yeah this is a rail forum but geez. There use to be a cool site about Greyhound travel though was used more of complaint sounding board. I use to work for Greyhound as a baggage handler at NYC PABT in the early 1980's. I remember when i got my PASS...man I was on a trip whenever I had enough time off. I cruised down to Florida and took the train back. I always looked forward to the LOCAL - the oddball on the schedule that took all the secondary roads and took all day to get there. Those runs are gone now, just like the secondary trains that ran for the Burlington and Santa Fe. Greyhound had class but no more.

Back in the day when Greyhound had a good reputation, right before the low-rate airlines took hold (it was People's Express that put Greyhound under) was a time when say you were the last person in line and no more seats on that coach - they pull another bus around just for you - nonstop to Buffalo for an example. During Thanksgiving that was the busiest time of year. Example: 7pm for Los Angeles would run with like 15 sections. They would load 10 buses just non-stop to Pittsburgh, 5 more directly to St. Louis. Baggage was everywhere!! Greyhound would be loading all over the Port - you never realized they had it together like that.

Todays Greyhound is a skeleton of its former self. If the coach pulls into the station with 5 seats and 20 are ready to board it looks like your standing or remaining in the terminal for the next departure which could be hours away or worse yet the station is set to close for the evening making you wait outside. I have every opportunity to ride Greyhound but it just freaks me out thinking about it. Yes I much rather take Amtrak but where I live its just not easy anymore. I really wish Amtrak would bring back direct service from St. Louis to NYC, even as a spur connection off the Cardinal at Indianapolis - oops wait though that sounds to logical - might even make money.
