While trying to look at alternatives to Cincinnati, I had a look at Amtrak to Louisville, KY. However, Amtrak's site seems to give two different service details for the same train. One has sleeping cars, one doesn't. Does anybody know what the real formation of the train is, both on Cardinal days (ex Washington DC) and non-Cardinal days?

Thanks

The Kentucky Cardinal does have a sleeping car every day of the week. It was removed for a while to allow the Zephyr to have an additional sleeper west of Denver. It has now been returned to the Kentucky Cardinal, at least for the foreseeable future.

Great, thanks. Amtrak's website needs updating! Having said that, their new ticketing system looks good. The only problem is you still can't click on a station and find out exactly where it is (i.e. address) - you have to go through some roundabout way to get that information.

Geoff, all I did was click on "Station Lovcations" on Amtrak's Homepage and it gave me the information quickly.

As for the Kentucky Cardinal, I would avoid it unless you have a great need to collectect route mileage. Its an overnight trip with no amenities (there is a diner and lounge on the 3 nights the Cardinal runs).
