Early this morning, I opened up a new news group on Yahoo for the issues concerning the rail service in the San Joaquin Valley area of California. To subscribe, simply send email to SanJoaquinRoute-Subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Over the next several years, five new trains (including three to Sacramento) will be inserted into the schedule. Two others will be added to Oakland station.

This will produce roughly a 1.5 hour headway from BFD to MOD with about a 3 hour headway from MOD-SAC during the day. Service will be 90 to 180 minutes apart west of Modesto to Oakland. It will also increase the total number of Los Angeles-Sacramento trips to 10, while the number of Oakland-Los Angeles trips increases to 7.
