How could I get from Houston TX to a ski place in Colorado? Any suggestions for any ski locations , family friendly,that do not have a scarry drive up?

If you go Amtrak I think you'd probably have to go to Colorado via Chicago. The California Zephyr goes to Winter Park, which is a ski resort. There is also the Rio Grande Ski Train from Denver. For more on that see http://www.skitrain.com
