I just booked a round trip from Chicago to Longview on the Texas Eagle for January. Though the new schedule still has a 3:30 PM departure time, the arrival time is two hours later than the old schedule. Anybody know why the trip is two hours longer than it used to be? I was reading through some Trainweb travelogues and saw that the train often ran several hours late. Are they just admitting that it takes longer than they said it did, or has the route changed? Does it still run several hours late?

We’re also taking the connecting bus to Houston. Has anyone had experience with that? Is it reliable? Comfortable? Is it possible to take any luggage on board, or does it all go underneath? Thanks in advance for any information.

Slow orders on the UP tracks have forced the rescheduling. It was consistantly late, and I guess this is permanent enough to warrent a new schedule. Here's what I read on another board..
