I am planning my first trip on the Great Northern route for next summer. My question is which is the better route to choose for sightseeing - going to Seattle or going to Portland? Would appreciate any advice.

I TOOK THE ROUTE FROM SPOKANE TO PORTLAND. IT GOES ALONG THE COLUMBIA RIVER VALLEY. I THOUGHT IT WAS AWESOME.

But remember that the diner goes to Seattle. My first choice would be: to Portland on the way west to see the Columbia River Gorge at dawn and from Seattle on the way back for the twilight run along Puget Sound & the climb to the Cascades while eating a marvelous dinner!
