Yippee! We are going on Sunset Limited again..or as I call it...the only train outta here!

We are going for annual vacation to New Mexico.

Anyone know how train has been running?

A 13.4% on-time rating for the Western portion of the Sunset for December (43.4% in the east). Average those together and you get about 28%, which ties the Coast Starlight for worst on-time performance in the Amtrak system.

Just wondering, how much of the Sunset route is on UP tracks? UP has been the worst offender for late trains.

Yummykaz and Others ...

I posted this under your Amtrak Sinking post, but wanted to make sure I got feedback from the long-time train riders and those knowledgeable about all things Amtrak, too.

As you know from Warrington's remarks the other day, March 29th is the big day -- and "Amtrak will post the required six-month discontinuance notices on all long-distance trains."

Like you, I have tickets on the Sunset, and we leave for LA from Orlando on April 16th. What do you think our chances are for getting a good ride and good service?

Anyone?

TIA,
