Trainsmag.com just reported that Amtrak will increase capacity by 50,000 seats nationwide during the Thanksgiving travel period, and is now urging passengers to purchase tickets early.
Last year, when it anticipated its largest holiday passenger loads ever, the railroad added 75,000 additional seats.
During the holiday week, which runs from November 26 through December 2, Amtrak will offer all-reserved serviced on many trains that normally don't require reservations.
For the first time, all-reserved service will be operated on the empire Corridor in New York State and the Pacific Surfliner Corridor in California
