Is there currently a Dash 8 located at the Toledo, Ohio Amtrak station used for switching purposes? I'll be going up there tommorow(the 31st) and was just wondering.
I checked one website, and it said 513 was there as of Nov. 2002. So unless its out on maitinance, I can't see how it isn't there. Can anyone confirm this?----There were actually 2 of em'-512 and 513. RThey were the first ones ive ever seen

I don't know for sure about Toledo, but the Dash 8 32B units have been assigned to switching service at a number of locations on Amtrak's network. I saw one in San Antonio, TX last March.

Get your photos while you can, though. With the decision to end freight service, there will be much less need for switchers in the near future.

They are currently used for switching in Sanford, and there is some talk about using them as motive power for the Auto Train.

I would question that, because I don't believe that those engines have the power connection to power the train. Not positive about that though.
