I was checking on the Status of Amtrak train #20 ( The northbound crescent) on its arrival into Atlanta, GA yesterday. What I found was astonishing. The train was due in to Atlanta at 7:16pm On Wednesday, and it arrived into Atlanta at 6:43am on Thursday morning about 11 hours late>!?!?!? I then checked its Departure status out of Birmingham, AL (only 200 miles away from Atlanta) and found that #20 only left 1 hour and 36 minutes late. The next thing I checked was arrival into Anniston, AL (about 100 miles from birmingham, 100 miles from Atlanta) and found it had arrived 9 hours and 43 minutes late!?!?!
This means train #20 would have lost about 10 hours in less than 200 miles. Was wondering if anyone knew what happend?

Thanks!

There may have been some schedule conflicts due to the derailment of Number 91. For instance, I think Auto Train may have been annuled (on Tue. or Wed.), and maybe this train (the Crescent, #20) was affected as well.
I agree with you that late trains (for railfans, anyway) can be the best trains, but almost ten hours late would begin to take its toll on me!
