What is the average fare for a one-way from Las Vegas to New Haven, Ct. I have never traveled Amtrak before, let alone across the country. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks...

Amtrak no longer serves Las Vegas, NV by train, but there is a motorcoach connection to Needles, CA. If you want to go from Las Vegas, NV to New Haven, CT, the Amtrak website provides three main options for getting there, with an average fare among those of about $303.00 one-way.
If you're referring to Las Vegas, NM, there are also three main train options with an average fare of $281.33 one-way.
What you can do is go to http://tickets.amtrak.com/Amtrak/main?storefront=1003&clearSessionFlag=yes , enter in your departure station (Las Vegas NV or NM), and New Haven, CT as the arrival station. You can enter in the dates of departure and arrival on that page as well.
After pressing "Show Schedules", it should show you a page with three sets of three-train combinations, such as Needles-Chi, Chi-NY Penn Station, Penn-New Haven. You can select the option you want by clicking on a "dot" on the left side of the page by the option you want.
Once you've done this, select your fare type (adult, senior, etc.), click "Show Fares" for the price for a coach seat, or "Add Accomodations" if you would like a sleeper for any portion of the trip.
Good luck, and have fun!
