Has the coast starlight been running on time into Seattle? We will be on it from LA to Seattle in Oct. Thanks

Go to www.amtrak.com and click the icon on the right side of the screen, just below the reservation part, that says, "Check Train Status." You can enter arrival and departure info - from: LAX (Los Angeles) to: SEA Seattle - for the Starlight and date ranges to check the status. If you get a "good" sales rep at the 1-800 number they too can tell you how the train has been performing (key word: "good")

The Coast Starlight runs on the BNSF Seattle Sub that goes past my house in Tacoma, WA just before the Nelson Bennett Tunnel (at MP 6.7, of course). I see it every evening, and it is usually 1.5-3 hours late, sometimes later, and sometimes earlier. I'd say that 75% of the trains fall into 1.5-3 hours late into Seattle.
I heard this from an Amtrak conductor once (I don't know if he was BS-ing me or not):
Once the train is more than one hour late, the railroad decreases priority. Believe me, if you are an engineer of an Amtrak train and are getting run around by a garbage train, it isn't a good feeling.
