I'll be leaving on my rail adventure tomorrow and am a bit confused about what the address is for the Amtrak Station in Montreal. I can't seem to figure it out with a Google search.
I need a real address of the Amtrak Station that I can use to plug into Mapquest so I can figure out how to get to my Aunt's condo (Parc Rembrandt) near the Cavendish Mall (Le Mail Cavendish).
I don't know French so I will probably be at the mercy of some cab driver who will, with my luck, dislike Americans. If any of you know your way around Montreal, I would be extremely obliged to you for some help.

I was looking at a close up of where Auntie lives and it seems there is a Canadien Pacifique line nearby.
Seems like I should be able to jump on the Metro or something and get there, but I should probably play it safe and take a cab. It's only six miles. Probably won't cost more than $20 canadian.

It is basically in the basement of the Queen Elizibeth hotel, a landmark most locals know.

Lest we forget, up there its "Oue' Hotel La Reine Elizabeth".
Actually, I believe you will find that Hotel was built around the "late art deco" station and that the structure still stands where it has since 1940.

When I went to MTL I stayed in the Queen Elizabeth hotel. At the time I knew about Trains because I was about 5, but I had been starting toride trains. If I remember correctly it seemed that alot the station wasnt even built,but being built.
Also I didnt know the station was in the basement of the hotel,so quiet a nice suprise.

Central Station was, as noted by Mr. Norman, built in the 1940s. The Queen Elizabeth Hotel was built somewhat later (1950s?) above and around it. The QE is on Boulevard Renee-Levesque at Mansfield. Rue de la Gauchetiere, where the auto entrance to Central Station is located, is one block to the east. You can enter the train station through the lobby of the QE, however. The cathedral is across the street and Place du Canada one block away.
All that having been said, for anyone planning to stay in Montreal I'd recommend two other hotels before the QE. The first is the Chateau Champlain (now a Marriott), one block away on Gauchetiere. The rooms have great view of "the mountain" (Mont-Royale) or the CP station (south). It's much more stylish than the QE. The other choice is a Sheraton right across Gauchetiere from the station; it's built on top of the Place Bonaventure indoor shopping mall.

Actually, Mr. Resor, if TRAINS would ever take my advice and establish an all time search data base (search engine; it would likely be subscription or PPV for which I would pay up in a heartbeat), one would be able to identify when Gare Central was built. The same article, as I recall, also had photos of the previous CN Bonaventure Station/Gare (you didn't get the guillotine back then for speaking English).
But alas, I'm not up to visually searching through 60 years of magazines page by page looking for such.
