There is an excellent story about the coast starlight in this week's edition of the latimes magazine, included in the sunday edition of the times. The peice really praises the comfort and luxury of the train, which I feel is not that great. But either way, if you dont live in LA, try www.latimes.com and search for the story.

Most excellent! Thanks for the tip, polarbear. I found it doing a search for "starlight" on the LA Times site. The title is "Traveling outside of Time."

Though I tend to agree that the writer overhyped the service quality a bit. But as an embattled air traveler, it was vastly superior to what the writer was accustomed to, hence the high praise.
