Sacramento to Oakland = 89 miles/2hrs 10 mins Philadelphia to Harrisburg = 104 miles/2hrs
Ok my point is on every Capitol train they have a cafe car, quiet car, railfone and you can bring a bicycle on a first come basis.
Compare all of that to the lonely Keystone service - just coaches. In fact more trains are operating through to NYC without a cafe car except for the through trains to/from Pittsburgh.
I wonder why the unfairness is this situation?

It's all about state funding. Fortunately here in California we have Caltrans. Our San Joaquins and Surfliners wouldn't be so nice without it either.

Good point but both services are financed. As it says in the schedule "Amtrak Keystone Service is financed in part through funds made available by the Commonwealth of Penna Department of Transp."

Yup, a cafe car would be nice on the Keystone service. I guess there isn't enough to go around.

Hmm, good point Jeff, I dunno. The answer probably lies in how MUCH funding, and that will be an issue here in California soon with our budget problems. (gulp)
