Yesterday I was driving north on Lang Drive in La Crosse, Wisconsin, which has a bridge that crosses over what we call the "freight yard." I was surprised to see an Amtrak Superliner car parked there among all the box cars. It was very dirty and had some big scratches (or possibly streaks of dirt) on one side. It looked like a modern coach car, although I obviously only had a second to glance at it. I was wondering if anyone knew why that car might be parked here. We have just a tiny passenger station, which the Empire Builder zips through twice daily. There was train-related fatality near here recently. Might an involved car have been taken off the train and been impounded in some way? I've driven over that bridge thousands of times and never seen an Amtrak car under it.
