Last summer I was supposed to go on a trip with one of my friends but he backed out at the last second due to circumstances that came up. However, since I booked it with an online special, the tickets were not refundable, and instead we got a $120 ticket voucher for each of the tickets that were originally $150.

If I understood right I have until one year from the original date of the trip to use the voucher on another trip, is that correct?

My friend doesn't think he will be financially able to go on any trips before that time. His name is on one of the two vouchers (my name being on the other of course). Since the tickets were charged to my credit card I think I should be able to have the second voucher be switched over to someone else who may go on a trip with me. Sometime in the time frame from late May to early July myself and my grandmother might travel out to my uncles in Washington state. I was just thinking it would be nice to get the voucher switched over for her, instead of having my friend pay me back for a ticket he will not be able to use.

From any past experience or knowledge you guys here have, do I have a chance at all of getting them to switch it so the second ticket voucher can be used by someone else?

Check to see if it says "nontransferrable" on the front. If so, you cannot use it for anyone else. If you do not see that, chances are pretty good you can use it. But why not just call Amtrak and ask; I am sure this info is easily known by all the reservationists.
