While reading the USA forum on Fodors.com - came across the post that states if Congress does not fund Amtrak in Sept. that this route to Montreal will be cancelled.

Panic City - I have a reservation for Oct. !

What has you heard about this ? Thanks

Your object of panic should be the state of New York. This is a state supported train. They appear to be short of funds for this. What a farce!! New York is already getting a lot more service at the national trough than almost any other state.

As for the Amtrak panic in October, all I can say is same old same old. Be prepared to write your congress person and remind them that Amtrak is a useful serviceand well used where available, and not just between Washington and Boston.

Due to the change in schedule I missed the Adirondack - however I caught the Bus to Plattsburgh for $45 dollars and can tell you it is a very good trip as the Bus travels through the Adirodacks and I think it goes faster too.

I didn't know about the state of NY being involved in this Amtrak route, Eek- I might have to contact Sen. Hildabeast !I'm sure that nickname won't get me a nickel.

Our reservations are from Albany to Montreal.

We could drive but do not want to drive in a Province that has no street signs in English!

This is outdated information; the state funding has come through for the NY-to-Montreal train--which btw was recently deemed by National Geographic as one of the ten most beautiful train runs in the WORLD.

I post this updated information for others who may be misled by the earlier posts in this strand and not for Maryann, whose childish, gratuitous insults would ordinarily not earn a response from me.

Come on, Ms. sojourner, worse has been said at various Forums.

If you really want to get Machiavellian, Hillary and the potential "First Gentleman" are subvertly for Bush. If Kerry wins, the nomination in '08 is of course "his' (last sitting President to be denied was Cleveland-2) . Her first chance then would be '12 when, she would be 65 years of age - one thing for an image as your "authorative yet influential teacher". to make a run; something else for "Grandma' to do so.

Now if you really want to get EXTREME Machiavellian, the scenario would be Bill & Hilliary saying "OK Senator, we'll work for you in '04, but if we deliver you a swing state like Florida, you will suddenly in '08 wish to devote all your human efforts to world hunger (lest we forget Heinz Ketchup is a vegtable) or whatever".

I came on today to post that the Adirondak was funded and will continue, Yea.Glad to see you already have the info.

The state of New York - in it's infinate wisdom has chosen such a person, who only came to town to be elected Senator. The ambition rolls on.

I would be childish of me to remark about my comment being childish, !
