According to the local (SBA) media, Surfliner service between LAX/SBA will resume tomorrow, 02/07/05. Service north of Santa Barbara including the SLO Surfliners and Coast Starlight is scheduled to resume 02/28/05.
Hope that helps. It will be good to hear the horn on that 6:49AM southbound departure again.

Hi all--- is this pretty definitive that the Coast Starlight will resume Feb. 28? Any ideas where that might be double checked? I'm looking at a couple of possible trips in the near future; the first taking the CS from LAX on 2-27 to Seattle. But this sounds pretty iffy right now. Maybe it might be up and running by March 6 for a one way return from Seattle? Any input would be helpful, pro or con. Thanks in advance for all of you that have helped out in the past.

Check www.amtrak.com or call 1-800-USA-RAIL. There is information on the web site with specifics on the first north and southbound Starlights. I believe the first Northbound is scheduled for 02/28/05 but someone else on this board said they were told 03/01/05 was more realistic.
I leave tomorrow for my first Acela Express ride BOS/WAS on Saturday. Looking forward to it, needless to say!

Hi!
Dunno about the Starlight, but the Surfliners will be running on that date. The Satrlight is not the ONLY train that goes to San Luis Obispo anymore...
Cheers,

Thanks all---- I called the 800 # and they said that the CS should resume on March 1. Let's *not* pray for more rain in California....I think they're probably well soaked enough by now!

We will have some rain tommorow here in Los Angeles, but it wont be much.
Pretty bad it takes a month to clear tracks after the storm.
