Well, I have booked another Amtrak Reservation...
In just a few weeks I will be back on the #14 going to Oregon as I did last spring at about this time. I made a reservation about a month ago for a roomette on the southbound and northbound trips, I am looking forward to this trip, and will come back with a trip report as I did last year ( you can see it here: www.trainweb.org/coaststarlight99 )

Is there more or less snow by Dunsmuir and Klamath Falls this year? Any tips on the CS are appreciated, this is my 5th time on the CS and my second 12+ hour trip.

All Aboard!
-Anton

PS. I have been building a new website for my trainweb account that will be more then just a trip report...I will have a photo, video, trip log, links, and more! So check it out late March/early April.

Having just driven from Eugene to Chemult, I can say there is almost no snow there.

I agree, I checked the webcam on the Oregon DOT website, and it is almost dry. However, I checked AccuWeather.com and found out there will be snow the week I am there, so I hope there some white!

Anton, I really enjoyed reading your trip report. You did an excellent job and your pics were really good, too. I am taking the same trip with my two granddaughters, ages 11 and 9. We are leaving from Oceanside on the Surfliner June 20th and will continue thru to Tacoma on the Starlight. We're staying in Tacoma for 5 days and will then take the train back. I've taken my four grandchildren on a train often but we've never stayed overnight. This will be as much fun for them as for me. They have to do a trip report, too, when they travel with me and I'll be sure and ask them to read yours before we leave. I'm sure many of these train brains will answer your questions but, if not, I'll find out when we leave. You know us grandmas, we can do anything! Grandma Linda

My wife and I took the Coast Starlight from Seattle to LA in 1999, what a treat. We had a roomette and the trip eas just a great experience. This is a must trip for anyone who has any kind of desire to travel by rail.

The staff is trained to pamper the passengers. Beats flying any day!!
