Hello all, I was wondering what promotions you would like to see? Me, I have been taking advantage of the baseball city promotion on my guest rewards program. Just wish they would have tied the cost the whole package in together ( train tickets and game tickets). Then again I realize that Amtrak isnt supposed to be in the entertainment field, but was wondering what other promotions people would be interested in.

I would like to see cheap seats to and from Richmond within Virginia on the Federal. The train always seems to have empty seats but the prices for local travel are exorbitant: about 50 cents a mile from a train that is not terribly fast and is often late.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

If I fly roundtrip on USAir cross-country I get 4500-5000+ miles on my frequent flyer account. If I go on Amtrak r/t cross-country I get about 975.

Amtrak Guest Rewards needs to re-evaluate its points system and give points based on the 'actual mileage travelled', not 2x the dollar value of the ticket.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there, dmwnc. I definitely think the amount of Guest Reward points should generally be based on money spent, not mileage.

However, if there is an underused line that Amtrak wants to encourage use on, they might give a special bonus award for traveling on it, or for traveling just coach (not sleeper) on it--whatever they want to encourage.

Also, I think they might give a bonus points award for passengers whose trains are super late--say, over 3 hours--maybe 100 points an hour. That would be a way of soothing those who might otherwise get pissed off and perhaps ensuring that they remain loyal customers.
