Here is the list of those currently staffed stations whose financial performance is such that we need to consider un-staffing.
The criteria used: revenue of less that 450K annually generated by the agent at the station - the highlighted column. Many on the list are 5 day a week stations.
We have included support information for you to evaluate- specifically labor information (the labor dollars are from the FY06 Transportation budget as is the headcount); revenue information-this information is from BRIO/FIS/Data Warehouse; Quik Trak information; and then the ratios developed by using cost/revenue information. There is also a sheet which indicates the other services the station provides -such as a remit point for conductors. We have removed stations from the list where there is no alternative for remittances, but left on those where there MAY be alternatives.
Our request: Please review the list, data and ratios. As you are ready we will set up conference calls to discuss. The decisions have to be made by early February to be effective with the Spring timetable.

This includes five stations that I depart from. Unfortunately if you book online, you can not depart from these stations unless you reserve far enough in advance for them to mail you the tickets. This would have prevented me from taking every one of my 4-5 long distance trips a year.
Another brilliant way to drive away customers. Part of the plan to prove no one rides long distance trains.

Interesting that they're mostly eastern stations, where most of Amtrak's business allegedly comes from.

Only a Californian would say these are "Mostly Eastern" When you take east of the Mississippi and north of the Ohio and Mason Dixon line as "Eastern" you get only 4 stations losing agents. However, 5 are Deep South, 3 are West Virginia, and 3 are in Texas, counting Texarkana in Texas. All the rest are in the Great Plains states, except Maricopa.
