Does anyone know if the cascades trains are usually on time? My mother is planning a trip to Sacramento but due to health reasons cannot travel the Coast Starlight all the way from Tacoma to Sacramento. She plans to train to Porltand and then fly from there on. My experience has been to prepare for lateness but that has been on The Starlight. If she takes an early Cascades train could she make an evening flight?

I've ridden the Cascades between Seattle and Portland for many years now and have never had a problem with delays. Maybe I've just been lucky? I always opt for the first train of the day that departs Seattle at 7:30 am, and we've always rolled into Portland on time. Hope your mom gets the chance to do this. It’s a beautiful ride!

Amtrak is announcing possible delays on the Cascades train; see the website. I have no idea when these are for or for how long.
